About Us

What the heck have I gotten myself into?

I ask this question quite frequently, as I never, in a million years, would have come up with the idea or ambition to pursue reptile breeding. The pursuit of this endeavour was launched by a little boy, many years ago. That was my nephew, Brandon, who asked me on more than just a few occasions, if maybe a chameleon would be a good pet for me in my office. I didn’t give any of this much thought, for quite some time, until I finally visited my local reptile store. There she was. The most beautiful Kinyongia multituberculata I’d ever seen. Within an hour I had purchased my first chameleon, cage, lights, vines, plants, …etc.

I named my new friend Isabelle. She was with me for years. She was a great pet.

As time went by, I acquired some Panthers. I bred them, and hatched some. Then acquired a few more. In 2006 and 2007, I formulated the beginnings of a plan to breed chameleons on a larger scale. I acquired Panther chameleons from several sources, within Canada, from WC sources and an importation from a top U.S. breeder. I now had the basis for breeding Nosy Be and Ambilobe Panthers.

We have structured ChromaChameleons as a business, due to the inherent management tools that a business model allows us. But we still preserve the love and dedication to our chameleons, that is the foundation of what we originally set out to do. Our goal is to breed healthy, vibrant captive bred (CB) chameleons. In so doing, we hope to alleviate the pressure on the wild caught (WC) populations that are feeding the pet trade. We do, on occasion, procure WC chameleons, as a means to continue our bloodlines. We do this in a very methodical and premeditated manner.

We are located north of Toronto Canada. We can arrange delivery or pickup within Ontario/Quebec and we will gladly ship anywhere within Canada that Air Canada Cargo ships live animals.

It is our belief, that the market, in Canada, for CB chameleons is in its infancy. As each year passes, we see more enthusiasts and a growing market. This is clearly evidenced by our ever increasing email traffic and the increasing interest shown at the many reptile shows and expos that we attend.

We encourage your emails and questions. We ask that our opinions and advice not be considered as a substitute for proper veterinarian attention, when such attention is warranted.

ChromaChameleons exists jointly due to our customer’s interest and my family’s commitment to the very best care of our chameleons. We look forward to hearing from you.
